Description
Turkey/India, 18th - 19th Century Group of four small miniatures attributable to Ottoman painting and two to Indian schools. The smallest (7 X 10 cm excl. frame) is part of the pair pertaining to the Anatolian sphere and represents a group of men and women, between the mountains, in what seems to be a camp. The second (11 X 16 cm excl. frame) seems to portray an ill person lying down, surrounded by other men. Both bear the inventory stamp from a previous collection. The two Indian miniatures instead represent (10.5 X 18.5 cm) a man astride a lion intent on a game watched by five onlookers; the other (9 X 15 cm) is probably a court scene, where a noble lady lies on the bed, presumably waiting for the arrival of man at the door and in the is accompanied by two maids.
