Henry Miller (1891 - 1980) is an artist and writer. He is the author of several books, the most well known being the "Tropic of Cancer", "Tropic of Capricorn", "Black Spring" and "Aller Retour New York". He also published books about his love of painting: "The Waters Reglitterized", "The Angel is my Watermark", "o Paint is to Love Again", "Paint as you Like and Die Happy".

Miller discovered his love of the process of painting upon seeing an exhibit of J.W. Turner's paintings with a friend of his (also an artist). His friend loaned him paper and brushes after seeing the exhibit.Miller excelled in watercolors, most of which were published as limited edition lithographs. The family retained several of the originals that were not given by Miller as gifts to his friends (his original paintings average $15,000 - $20,000).

His artwork was exhibited world wide in the United States, Japan and Europe. The first recorded exhibition was in 1927 at June Mansfield's Roman Tavern in Greenwich Village, Connecticut. In the 1940's his watercolors were exhibited at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, California. In the 1950's he had a traveling exhibition of his watercolors in Japan. In 1957 he was exhibiting his watercolors at Gallery One, in London which was followed by an exhibition of water colors in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. In 1965 Miller held a watercolor exhibition at Westwood Art Association in Los Angeles, California. In 1967 he exhibited his watercolors at Daniel Gervis Gallery in Paris which was followed by a watercolor show in Uppsala, Sweden.
