Description
The 1946 ERCO Ercoupe is a low-wing monoplane aircraft that was designed and built in the United States. It was first manufactured by the Engineering and Research Corporation (ERCO) shortly before World War II; several other manufacturers continued its production after the war. It was designed to be the safest fixed-wing aircraft that aerospace engineering could provide at the time, and the type continues to enjoy a faithful following. The Ercoupe's claim to fame is the fact that there are no foot controls along with its "spin-proof" design. This is due to the single steering wheel design to guide the plane up or down, banks and turns left or right to reduce learning time and makes for safer operation. The prewar 415-c Ercoupes were powered by 65 hp (48 kW) Continental A-65-8 engines. The postwar Ercoupes were powered by 75 hp. 2200 hrs on engine, 600 hrs since overhaulin 1997. Condition: Good for its age, needs a little TLC, the exhaust is not original to the aircraft.. This plane is currently being stored in an airport hangar in Doylestown Pennsylvania. Removal is the sole responsibility of the buyer. A deposit of $1000 will be required at knock down. The airplane log indicates that the aircraft was last certified on 1-3-2013. The engine log indicates the last certification was 4-3-2012.
