( Sir Edward, lawyer, legal writer, and politician, 1552-1634) Petition to Coke, as Chief-Justice of the Common Pleas at Westminster, by Mary Britwel, alleging that her lawfully possessed milk cow and Hereford were taken and driven away by one Askew, under-bailiff to the late Norfolk bailiff Mr Trench, and seeking reparation, D.s. "Ed Coke", and with his autograph subscription at tail, 1p., folds, slightly browned, housed in a red morocco gilt folder, in a morocco-backed fitted box, sm. folio, [c.1606-1613]. Subscription by Coke reads: "According as is desired it is referred to Sr Nathaniell Bacon, and Sr Austen Pagrave [?Palgrave] by their good meanes to end or certifie / Ed Coke."
