Description
German 19th Century Gilt Black Porter Blackamoor Clock. The amusing German clock has an enameled dial "Franz Heitman HOHENSTADT". The carved wood German clock depicts a porter holding a cane and bottle with a rope tied bale on his back. The clock is after the famous 1803 French clock by Jean-Andre Reiche entitled "The Black Porter". The dial has a small chip at the edge of rim at 6 o'clock and a touch of repair at the top of the 12 o'clock. Viewing side of the clock is gilt but the back of the porter's body is not. The two bell quarter striking silk thread suspension movement is marked #57 and is running at this time. Measures 27 inches in height, 15 inches in width and 9 inches in depth. Weighs 13 pounds.
