These items are from the estate of a Kansas City relative of Rookwood Pottery artist Carl Schmidt. There is a Rookwood Plaque that measures 12" tall by 10" wide signed by Schmidt in the lower right corner. It has the impressed Rookwood flame mark as well as the date for 1922. There's also an oil on board composition study for the plaque that measures 9" tall by 12" wide. There's a nice period photograph of the artist at work taken by W. B. Poynter of Cincinnati plus 10 original watercolor paintings purported to be by Schmidt as well as a charcoal drawing, and a pen & ink drawing. Most of the artwork is unsigned. Estate papers include letters, Christmas cards, and 3 post cards,(2 unused). There is also a Gold Wedding Band with engraved leaves on it. The plaque appears to be unglazed and has a large chip to the left side, a 3 1/2" crack and a 5/8" crack. The unglazed surface is soiled overall.
