Description
W Horrod, London, a George IV and later mahogany wheel barometer, with hygrometer above thermometer, timepiece, 12inch engraved dial, signed to the level below, restored, 116cm (45in)
Condition
This barometer has been very much restored. It bears a Patrick Marney label to the reverse dated 2004. He is or was both a good maker and restorer of barometers. It is just possible that he has made the whole thing up, as it has new elements, including thermometer dial, reverse brass plate for the timepiece, and tubes. The main dial looks older, it has a few slight 'cracks or creases' which makes it look old. The clock dial is chipped around the outside, but the internal slow fast regulation plate looks quite modern in its script. Overall, still a good looking piece.
