late 19th/early 20th century, finely carved curving beak slightly parted to reveal a open mouth, crown with inserted tufts of dark brown hair in the form of shaved cedar, painted against natural ground of vermillion red on the browns and blacks of the framing and extending into neck, interior deeply hollowed with fine tool markings, 7-1/2 x 14-1/2 in., 16 in. with painted wood stand, loss to left rear corner.
