Narcissus, after the antique, foundry stamped "Chiurazzi Naples", patinated bronze, 24-1/4 in. abrasions with losses to patination. Notes: Excavated in Pompeii in 1862, Narcissus is regarded as the last of the great sculptures of antiquity to be discovered. It was replicated by various Neopolitan foundries in the late 18th and early 20th century.. Provenance: Property of a Norfolk Gentleman
