Description
A set of early nineteenth century silver fruit knives and forks for six place settings, each with a plain, slightly tapering mother-of-pearl handle. Remnants only of Lion passant and Duty marks are visible. Length of knife measuring 7 3/4 inches (19.5 cm), length of fork measuring 6 1/4 inches (16 cm).
Condition
In fair overall condition, all pieces displaying general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. Heavier wear around the edges of the knife blades and also to the tips of the fork tines but they have generally faired quite well. Some of the tines vary slightly in length and are a little bent on the tips. There is a large repair to the mother of pearl of one of the fork handles. Slight gaps at some of the joins but otherwise they appear to be okay. The hallmarks present are very distorted and difficult to read with any accuracy.
