Senorita De Alvarez ( faded pen signature ) bears embossing for ' Published by E. Trim & Co. Wimbledon '
Elia Maria González-Álvarez y López-Chicheria , also known as Lilí Álvarezb (1905 - 1998) Spanish , was a Spanish multi-sport competitor, an international tennis champion, an author, feminist and a journalist.
She is perhaps best known for wearing her controversial ' Robe-pants ' at the 1931 French Championships. Elizabeth Ryan ( ink signature ) Elizabeth Montague Ryan (1892 - 1979) USA , lived most of her life in the United Kingdom. Ryan won 30 Grand Slam titles. Nineteen of those titles were in women's doubles and mixed doubles at Wimbledon, an all-time record for those two events. Twelve of her Wimbledon titles were in women's doubles and seven were in mixed doubles. Ryan also won six women's doubles titles and two mixed doubles titles at the French Championships, as well as one women's doubles title and two mixed doubles titles at the U.S. Championships.
Miss Elsie Goldsack ( pen ink signature ) bears embossing 'Published by E. Trim & Co. Wimbledon '. Elsie Goldsack Pittman (1904 - 1975) English female tennis player who competed during the second half of the 1920s and the 1930s.
Between 1925 and 1939 she participated in 15 Wimbledon Championships.Her best result in the singles event was reaching the semifinal in 1929 in which she was defeated in straight sets by first-seeded and eventual champion Helen Wills..In the mixed doubles she reached the quarterfinal in 1930 and 1931. Her biggest success at Grand Slam level came in 1937 when she partnered with Phyllis Mudford King to reach the final of the 1937 Wimbledon Championships, which they lost to Simone Mathieu and Billie Yorke in straight sets.
Miss Joan C. Ridley ( pen ink signature ). Miss Ridley , English , was known as one of the most attractive English players and won the East of England Championship in 1927.
Miss Heine ( pen ink signature ) Esther "Bobbie" Heine Miller (1909-2011?) South African .She was South Africa's first international tennis star. Her first success came at the Natal Championships in 1925. That same year she represented South Africa when a British team visited during 1926-27. As Miss Heine she first campaigned in Europe in 1927, making the semis of the French and actually winning the ladies doubles . Heine lost a close semi encounter with the Dutch Kea Bouman.
She was seeded #7 at Wimbledon, the first year seeding was introduced after the Lenglen debackle of the previous year.
Two year later she returned to Europe as part of a sponsored South African ladies team. At the French she was seeded #2. In a strange twist she lost to Cilly Aussem, her 1927 victim. Bobbie and doubles partner Alida Neave fell in the doubles final.
Bobbie then found herself seeded #6 at Wimbledon. Bobbie had to contend with Helen Wills in the quarters. Once again she reached reached the mixed semis. Her titles that year included the British Hard Courts and the Irish Championships, both the singles and doubles.
Bobbie wed farmer Harry Miller in 1931. Miller emigrated to Australia in 1978.
