Description:
Vinyl Long Playing record, with original sleeve.
Rare original Acid Text record, with Ken Kesey and the Merry Pranksters, along with members of the Grateful Dead and others. This is a legendary documentation of the 1965-66 Acid Text scene from "14 hours of the actual trip." The review on the cover, by the equally legendary Herb Caen, reads in part: "Shortly before he disappeared in limbo, or even Mexico, novelist Ken Kesey and his 'trips' buddies recorded an album at Sound City Recorders on Sixth Street. What makes this an item possibly, is that Ken et al. were high on LSD at the time and kept getting higher as the recorded progressed. The album is titled 'The Acid Test' - Kesey s idea - and the only thing ordinary about this record is that the hole is in the middle." Provenance: The Psychedelic Shop on Haight Street. With a sheet of letterhead from the shop signed by proprietor Jay Thelin. The shop closed in October, 1967, and the record has been in Mr. Thelin's possession since that time. There is a photograph, a copy of which accompanies the lot, of Jay and his brother Ron in front of The Psychedelic Shop, with Ron holding the record.
