Description
Greek, Apulia, southeastern Italy, Ca 325 to 300 BCE. Very fine and almost perfect pottery covered lekanis. Redware pottery with small footed lower "cup" and spooled lid, painted with the ubiquitous Lady of Fashion in two areas separated by palmettes. Lid painted with black rays. Size: 4"H x 3-3/4"D.
Provenance: Ex-Dr. Charles Smithen, Palm Beach, Fl, acquired between 1980 and 1990.
