Description
The lot features an early Northern Plains Native American Indian pipe tomahawk. The piece shows a rocker engraved tomahawk head reading, "RedHeart (Red Heart)." The piece is from circa 1850 showing a brass tacked carved wood stem and brass tomahawk head and pipe bowl. The piece had a later added soldered silver fob marked, "U.S.S. (crossed arrows) A 1876.' The fob shows an etched border. Very rare original true Indian War Tomahawk from a private museum collection from Red Wing, Minnesota. Brass tacked "US". Measures 25.5"l x 9.75"w with a 3/4" bowl opening.
