Cf. Xavier-Marie-Auguste Courtet says Augustin Courtet, born 29 July 1821 in Lyon and died in March 1891 in Paris, noted French sculptor of numerous public monuments in France.
He was the son of François Augustin Magloire Courtet, a French merchant from Lyon.In 1857 in Paris the artist married Louise Joséphine Roger Arquinvilliers, the daughter of Roger Arquinvilliers Athanasius Victor and Louise Joséphine Constance Rose Parron, both members of the French elite. The sculptor Auguste-Courtet called himself "Courtet of Arquinvilliers", named after his wife.
The sculptor studied under the Master of Pradier, Ramey and his son Dumont. It is recorded that in 1848, the artist was the recipiant of medal second class.
