Black walnut plaque has been fitted with metallic image of crowned shield with Bastogne along the lower edge, domed crystal in center, below embossed plate reads 'Nuts City' which refers to 101st Airborne response to surrender. Typewritten description on back explains the circumstances and the description indicates that the glass crystal contains dirt from the battlefield at Bastogne. The wood is said to have been salvaged from a tree that was destroyed during the battle. Very, very unique piece. In commemoration of the Siege and Victory at Bastogne in WWII.
