Photograph album "H.M. Yacht Victoria and Albert", original leather cloth with gilt borders and lettering, spine with raised bands, marbled endpapers, gilt page edges, containing 31 black and white landscape photographs of members of the English Royal family with guests, Royal Household staff and crew aboard the royal yachts Victoria and Albert III (photographs from 1921 to 1938) and Britannia (photographs from 1954 to 1960), ink captions listing the sitters and locations in ink, also including one photograph of the yacht Britannia while sailing and two photographs of the same vessel during its construction; wear to cover corners and extremities of spine, raised bands partly rubbed, browning to paper, water staining to lower page margins, wear to edges, oblong folio, overall size 27 x 36.5cm. Photographs dating from 1921 to 1935 were taken off Cowes harbour. The King and Queen of England used to go to Cowes every year in August for the Regattas. It became a tradition for the Royal family to sit for a photograph with the members of the crew on the deck of the Royal yacht at the end of their stay in Cowes. 1959 photograph shows Her Majesty Elizabeth II and the Duke of Edinburgh on the deck of Britannia with U.S. President Dwight Eisenhower, when they inaugurated the St Lawrence seaway.
