Adolf Hölzel (1853-1934)

Adolf Hölzel was born in May 1853. From 1872 onwards he started studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna and continued his studies fin 1876 in Munich. Together with Ludwig Dill and Arthur Langhammer he founded the Dachau Painting School. Moreover he was co-founder of both the Munich Secession and the Vienna Secession and is thus regarded as pioneer of modernism.
