frame has lost most of the gesso and gilt surface slip is a later addition many later adaptations to the reverse of the frame and slip loose in the outer moulding canvas has been re-lined, circa late 19th century wooden stretcher is a 19th century replacement, with horizontal and vertical cross braces paint surface has old raised craquelure throughout some blistering and flaking upper right under inspection with uv lamp there are scattered small spots and patches of retouching visible but overall much of an older layer of varnish remains overall in good condition
