Henri Vever (1854-1942)
Grandson of Pierre Vever, Henri Vever was a third generation jeweler. In a family of eminent jewelers, Henri was specifically noted for his artful design and study of drawing and modeling. After his father retired, Henri ran Maison Vever with his brother Paul. Together, the brothers exhibited Vever designs at numerous international fairs, and won several grand prices for the firm’s gem-set jewelry. Today, the firm’s contributions to Art Nouveau jewelry remains one of its finest achievements. Alongside designing jewelry, Henri Vever is known as the writer of one of the most comprehensive books on the history of French jewelry production and design.
