Pioneering American stand-up comic (1925–1966) whose frank, sometimes "obscene" commentary on a variety of taboo subjects made him one of the most controversial yet popular performers of the 1950s and 1960s. He died of a morphine overdose in Hollywood on August 3, 1966 at the age of 40. Offered here is an extemely rare--if not controversial--signed bank check. Dated August 2, 1966--the day prior to his death--and drawn on his personal account, this check is made payable to Shwab's Pharmacy for $1.87. Filled out in another's hand, the check is boldly signed by Bruce himself in blue ballpoint pen. While the purchase that involved this payment is not stated on the check, one could only wonder if it had anything to do with the legendary comedian's demise. In excellent condition. LOA from Global Authentication.
