These daggers are so-called kris daggers. The kris is a traditional weapon which is often inherited over several generations and believed to possess magical powers. Both have ivory hilts and show a characteristic, curved blade made of damascene steel. One hilt is ornamentally carved with openwork floral motifs. This dagger has a wooden scabbard with brass mount adorned with fine, ornamental repoussé work. The hilt of the second dagger is designed as a stylized toucan. The silver-plated scabbard also shows a floral repoussé decoration.



Condition:

The daggers is in good condition with signs of wear consistent with age. The sheaths show a few small dents and some losses. The metal sheath was glued at the top. The length (with scabbard) is 43 cm and 51 cm.
