A JAPANESE BRONZE HAND MIRROR, POSSIBLY MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912), of circular form and intricately cast in shallow relief with a crane flying above his companion signaling from beneath the branches of an ancient pine, blossoming prunus and leafy bamboo stalks, on low hills continuing to paired turtles frolicking amidst a shoreline of stylized waves, beneath a raised character columnar inscription, reversing to a reflective silvered surface, on a cane wrapped rectangular handle. Note: Turtles symbolize longevity and cranes symbolize fidelity leading one to believe this is possibly a wedding gift. Height: 13 3/4" Width: 9 1/2"
