Baker traveled through Egypt, the Sudan, and points south to the headwaters of the Nile in this expedition to suppress the slave-trade of Central Africa, which he was chosen to command. With armorial bookplates of Philip Kingsland Crowe, onetime U.S. Ambassador to South Africa.

Condition
Some shelf wear, minor insect damage and extremity rubbing to cloth; hinges cracked at endpapers of Vol. I and starting at rear endpaper of Vol. II; some fairly light foxing within, else very good, with armorial bookplates of Philip Kingsland Crowe.
