Description
Antique Chinese Qing Dynasty Cloisonne Enamel Bowl. Late 19th, early 20th century, gilded bronze bulbous body. Beautiful cobalt ground finely decorated in multi colored peonies, lotus, butterflies and phoenix, with a stylized ruyi-head trim around bowl and lotus petal border at foot.Turquoise ground interior and base. One of two matching bowls offered in this Auction. Provenance: A Summerville, South Carolina Private Collection. During the reigns of Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911), cloisonne improved and reached its artistic summit. Colors were more delicate, filigrees more flexible and fluent, and scope was enlarged beyond the sacrifice-process wares into snuff bottles, folding screens, incense burners, tables, chairs, chopsticks, and bowls.......Measures 10x10x6 and weighs 5 pounds.
