Decorative candle holder from the Georgian era
This candlestick made of 925 Sterling Silver dates to the year 1763, to the time of George III. The fluted shaft crowned with an openwork Corinthian capital rises on a square foot.
The candlestick is marked on the base with the English hallmarks: lion, crowned lion’s head (London), date letter ‘H’ (1763), maker’s mark ‘FC’. The side of the foot bears an early engraving by hand ‘N° 2 13-18’ respectively. The candle holder is in good condition with only minor wear consistent with age. The foot is filled. The insert is missing. The height is 30 cm, the weight is approx. 845 grams.
