Leeds platter with blue feather or shell edge border. Impressed mark on back "Gest Goods". An attached letter contains provenance on the platter. Excerpts "this was a part of dinner ware brought down the Appalachian trail from Harrisonburg, VA to Greeneville, TN, about 1840-42 by my great grandfather, Andrew Correll. He was a...minister...and led his flock to Tennessee where they bought land from my great grandfather Babb and established a Dunkard community. My grandmother, Mary Jane Correll Babb said the platter was kept in the oven with food for the "boys" when they came from the fields.... Mildred Babb May 1, 1993". Very good condition with no visible flaws, cracks, or flakes. 12 1/2" x 15 1/2". Early 19th century.
