Description
Grouping of daguerreotypes, ambrotype, and civil war document belonging J.B.G. Kinsloe (James Bannister Gibson Kinsloe), publisher of the The Presbyterian Witness paper in Knoxville, TN. Document reads, "Received of J.B.G. Kinsloe one double barreled shot gun, n. 953, valued at $15, and deposited in the Ordinance Office for the use of the Confederate Army Service. P.M. MClung, Ordinance officer, By John E. Heliup (sp?) Dec. 6, 1861." Images include a young African American woman in a dress indicating she was a free woman of color, and images of Kinsloe and his wife. Third quarter of the 19th century.
