Early North Carolina alkaline glazed pottery jug

Early and rare North Carolina alkaline glazed stoneware jug, probably Catawba Valley. Heavy alkaline glaze with sine wave incising on upper midsection, incised lines around the midsection, threaded channel neck and pulled handle. The sine wave incising in combination with a threaded channel neck on an alkaline glaze form this early is unusual and rare. The jug has been in a collection for over 30 years. Excellent condition. 10 1/2" height. First half of the 19th century.
