Wythe County, Virginia redware pitcher, sine wave incising. Found in Rural Retreat, Wythe County, Virginia. Lead glaze, pulled handle, two incised lines below rim, two sine waves incised around upper bulbous midsection, beaded foot with incised line above the bead, unglazed bottom. Roughness to glaze near backside and handle area indicating oxidation issues when the pitcher was fired in the kiln. Condition - glaze flakes on side of handle and right side above sine wave, shallow rim chip, minor chips to base. 13 1/2" height. Mid 19th century.
