Extremely rare Washington County, Tennessee child's armchair windsor. Bowed crest rail with bamboo shaped spindles, shaped arm support, saddle seat, bamboo turned legs and stretchers. Hickory and various other woods. This is one of the earliest documented Tennessee chairs of this type. Provenance - Mary Sue Carson Going, an early Washington County, TN family. Condition - arm support appears to have been lost in the 19th century based on oxidation and wear. 12 3/4" width x 10 1/2" depth x 19 3/4" height. Circa 1800.
