Large and scarce Middle Tennessee pottery urn

An exceptionally large and scarce Middle Tennessee stoneware pottery urn, in two pieces. Found in White County, Tennessee. Top of urn consists of a folded over rim with a cut out fringe tapering to a lower opening, incising below folded rim and lower edge, pooling of salt glaze to underside of folded rim. The base consists of an angled tapered rim tapering to a larger base with incised steps in the lower base. Excellent condition - no chips, cracks, or repairs. The back side of the rim shows warping from the result of the firing process. 17" height. Circa 1890-1910. Note - this uncommonly large form is one of two known Middle Tennessee urns.
