Virginia cobalt decorated stoneware jar, marked "J M Hickerson Strasburg VA" (James M. Hickerson, active 1879-1897), stamped with gallon capacity "1 1/2", decorated with cobalt swags around the top rim area. Condition - one shallow chip to base, otherwise excellent. 10 1/4" height. Circa 1880.
