Folk art wall pocket in shield form. Blue paint with traces of a green paint underneath. Scratch beaded border around shield with an inner border of circles. The cutout holder has a tree design on the top. Appears to retain the original hook. East Tennessee or Southwest Virginia. Wood appears to be a chestnut variety. Late 19th century. 11 3/4" length.
