Large bronze of western artist, C.M. Russell

Exceptional and large bronze of C.M. Russell, marked on base "8/25", height 28 1/2". Although the bronze is unsigned, the original plaster model originated from the estate of Nancy Russell. Consequently, the original plaster is attributed to C.M. Russell. Homer Britzman cast two bronzes from this plaster model in 1957. One of these bronzes was purchased by the R.W. Morton Museum in Shreveport, LA. In 1980, The American Cowboy Gallery planned to cast an edition of 25 from the original plaster model, but cost and other business factors resulted in a lower edition total. The original plaster model was donated to the Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame & Museum of the American Cowboy in Colorado Springs, CO, with the condition the plaster would not be reproduced.
