This Pende mask consisting of wood and bast, has its origin in the region of Budundu in Zaire. The mask was used for dances at initiation- and circumcision celebrations. It appears in the shape of an owl. The mask has a beautiful black brown partly shiny patina and comes with original mounting.
The wooden mask is in very good condition with light signs of wear. There is a crack visible on the left ear. The length of the object measures in 24 cm. (bal)
