" De Proprietatibus Rerum (On the Properties of Things) by Bartholomaeus Anglicus, written about 1250, became the most influential and widely read encyclopedia of the late medieval period. The work was translated into several languages and remained popular over a span of three centuries It was the first English book printed on paper made by England's first papermaker, John Tate; the first printed English version of Bartholomaeus, and it was printed by Wynkyn de Worde ".
