ISABELLA II: (1830-1904) Queen of Spain 1833-68. Fine L.S., Isabel de Bourbon, four pages, 8vo, Lequeitio, 13th August 1883, to General Polavieja, on the Queen´s personal stationery showing an attractive embossed golden monogram, in Spanish. The Queen writes to her old friend General Polavieja about personal and State matters, including the King, her children and the uprisings in Spain, and states `On my way I stopped in Madrid, very happy the days I was with children, I did talk a lot to Alfonso about you, he respects you as much as you deserve it, and I also told him about your requests about the Armies, and am sure he has been thinking about it knowing how many of your predictions became a reality´, further referring to the uprisings `It is a shame, most of all because of the effect the uprisings of the regiments of Badajoz, Santo Domingo, and Seo Urgel have in the foreign countries; may be it is not so important, and could even be for good in the future, but we should regret that although the King is not the Queen, the troops can keep on uprising´. The Queen further comments her intention to stop again in Madrid on her way from San Sebastian to Sevilla, to meet her children, and ends with a request from the General about an appointment of a municipality judge, a matter which she promised to talk about with the Regent.
