Description
Legendary Oscar Winning Costume Designer Charles Le Maire Rare Original Designs - Legendary Oscar Winning Costume Designer Charles Le Maire Rare Original Motion Picture Design Drawings - This remarkable recently discovered treasure chest of rare and astonishing original costume design drawings comes from the private collection of Charles Le Maire, the legendary three-time Oscar© winner (and 13 Oscar© nominations) costume designer, considered the most influential and innovative in Hollywood History. In his fifty year career he designed costumes for over 300 films including “The Seven Year Itch”, “All About Eve”, "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing", "How to Marry a Millionaire", "Miracle on 34th Street", “ “Viva Zapata”, "An Affair to Remember", “The Day The Earth Stood Still” “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes”, "Daddy Long Legs" and “The Robe”, as well as creating original gowns for over 100 of the most famous actresses and celebrities, as well as the world’s Royalty and VIP’s. His original design drawings can be found in dozens of comprehensive books, libraries and museums featuring the history of Hollywood costumes. Prints of his famous designs have been on sale for years, and when even one of his original drawings are discovered, it becomes a major event. That is what makes this stunning collection so remarkable! In this set are over 100 of Le Maire's original costume designs, sketches, drawings, water colors and pencil concepts. Many are full designs from some of his most famous movies, and others are the initial ideas that he was known to sketch on whatever was available at the time, from napkins, to paper table clothes, to scraps of paper! Most are full on designs, that include his handwritten notes for special details, as well as actual fabric samples. Many come from his most protective years as senior costume supervisor for 20th Century Fox in the 1940's. They are all true works of original art, and suitable for framing. Never has there been such a collection available in one place! Every piece of Le Maire original costume art is sealed in custom plastic sleeves, and placed in his original portfolios. This astonishing collection consists of a one binder, and three artist portfolios filled with his genius creations. They are of all sizes including over-sized original design artist-tissue stock.
