Description
A pair of Egyptian scarabs. The first is a New Kingdom steatite scarab, c. 1570 - 1070 BC, with a 'kheper' and 're' flanked by feathers. 13x9mm. Some chipping. The second is a 2nd Intermediate faience scarab, c. 1750 - 1570 BC, with Hed cord on base. 10x8mm. Minor chip, glaze gone tan. Ex collection Albert F. Pagnon, Luxor, acquired in the 1860's; Ex Royal Athena Galleries, New York.
