Atlas Minor, Sive Geographia Compendiosa Qua Orbis Terrarum Per Paucas Attamen Novissimas Tabulas Ostenditur. Nicolaes II Visscher (1649-1702). Published by Amsterdam: Nicolai Visscher, [ca 1700]. Folio (21 x 13 4/8 inches). Engraved allegorical title-page printed in sanguin (Koeman Vis 12), fine double-page engraved map of the world "Planisphaerium Terrestre, sive Terrarum Orbis. Amsterdam ca., 1705 by Carol Allard (Shirley 578) (a bit spotted), and 154 double-page maps, including 13 folding, all with original hand-colour in full (maps of Holland and Britain chipped with minor loss as a result of oxidization, last 50 maps with dampstains to the top margin, occasionally affecting the image). Contemporary blind-panelled Dutch vellum (a bit marked, lower panel with one or two bubbles in the vellum). A fine and comprehensive composite atlas, and one of a series of large atlases compiled and sold by the Visscher family of art dealers and cartographers at the end of the seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
