This color etching is entitled 'Le Chevalier noir’ (The black knight) and was created by well-known Spanish representative of surrealism, Salvador Dalí (1904-1989). The drypoint in colors was printed on Japon nacré, and shows a black knight in armor on horseback. The quite thin and colored contours are characteristic of Dalí. This print is part of the series ‘The Quête du Graal’ (= The search for the Grail) which contains twelve color drypoint etchings. Our print is copy 13 of total edition of 75 copies.



The etching is signed in pencil ‘Dali’ and numbered ‘XIII / LXXV’. The sheet is in good condition. At the outer right edge with vertical crease mark, otherwise overall good condition. The plate measures 39.9 x 26.5 cm. The sheet dimensions are 65 x 50 cm.
