This charming lithograph by the German painter and graphic artist Hans Purrmann shows, drawn in elegant curved lines, several women at an open window, each engaged in a different activity. In the centre of the harmonious composition is a sitting women depicted, seemingly absorbed by her read.



The lithograph is in very good condition. It is signed lower right “H. Purrmann” and numbered “14/100”. The overall dimensions are 54 x 45,5 cm.



Hans Purrmann (1880 – 1966)

Hans Marsilius Purrmann (10. April 1880 in Speyer - 17. April 1966 in Basel) was a German painter and graphic artist. He lived and worked in Munich, Paris, Berlin, Langenargen, Florence and Montagnola, Tessin. Purrmann who was a friend and pupil of Henri Matisse developed his very own painting style, entirely unaffected by the Expressionists. He created almost 1400 oil paintings, over 400 water colours, numerous graphics and four sculptures.
