Mirror and reflection is a key theme in the work of the Italian artist Michelangelo Pistoletto. In this triptych he has optically created the effect of distorting mirrors by the design of the screened serigraph on the mirroring cardboard.

One of the three serigraphs is signed, numbered and titled on the reverse in pencil ‘Pistoletto 37/60 (tre porti)‘. The three sheets are in very good condition. The frames are in good condition with minor signs of wear. The sheet-sized images each measure 100 x 70 cm. The framed dimensions are 100.5 x 70.5 cm

Michelangelo Pistoletto (b. 1933)

The Italian artist was born in Biella in Piedmont and worked until 1958 in his father’s restoration workshop. He trained autodidactic as a painter and took part in the 1959 Biennale di San Marino. In the 1960s, Pistoletto began to combine figurative painting with metallic screens or mirrors and thus integrate the viewer into the picture. The theme of reflection is defining his work, as well as it is the connection between art and everyday life. Pistoletto's works, which are attributed to the Italian Arte Povera, are represented internationally in museums. In 2013 Michelangelo Pistoletto was also awarded the Japanese Praemium Imperial. Since 1990 the artist lives and works in Turin. (fea)
