Advertising poster for Opel
Made in the Aktiengesellschaft für Kunstdruck [Corporation for Art Prints] in Niedersedlitz, Dresden, around 1910
Dimensions, framed: 95 x 72 cm
Good condition
This advertising poster for the German automobile company Opel was produced around 1910 by the Aktiengesellschaft für Kunstdruck [Corporation for Art Prints] in Niedersedlitz, Dresden. It presents a man dressed casually in white on a green and yellow background, having a look at a black Opel racing cycle. The brand logo is displayed in large, white letters above this scene, and again on the frame of the bike. The slogan, “feine Marke!” [„fine brand!“] could be understood as the man’s words upon viewing the bicycle. The poster impresses with its brilliant colours and the well-balanced, aesthetic design.
The advertising poster is in good, age-related condition. The original metal suspension bars, which are not visible when the poster is framed, are attached to the upper and lower edges. The edges of the fine, black frame, which also dates back to the period around 1910, displays slight damage. The poster is framed behind the original glass, which is slightly wavy due to age. The dimensions (height x width) are 95 x 72 cm when framed and 70 x 49 cm when not.
