US-American artist Jeff Koons signed and dated this print on the lower right in blue felt-tip pen ‘Jeff Koons 5/11/12’. The picture shows Koons’ art work ‘Two Ball 50/50 Tank’ from 1985 fromThe Equilibrium Series, an especially famous and sensational group of works. These trompe-l’œil-sculptures consist of one or more basketballs that float in the middle of a water tank, which is actually physically impossible. Koons however achieved this by using various liquids of a different density.

The print shows several paperclip marks and at the upper edge a light crease mark. Minimal edge wear is visible as well as tiny scratches. The dimensions of the image measure 30.3 x 21.1 cm.

Jeff Koons (b. 1955)

The US-American artist Jeff Koons is one of the most successful contemporary artists. In his works Koons continually presents himself through pictures. His artistic output is therefore characterized by a garish, loud and colorful style which culminates in his monumental sculptures that oscillate between the poles of ‘art’ and ‘kitsch’. By doing so, the artist catches up with art historical traditions initiated by personalities such as Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol. (nlu)
