“The 1947 Petrus is the most decadent "wine of the century." While not as port-like as the 1947 Cheval Blanc, it is a massive, unctuously-textured, viscous wine with amazing power, richness, and sweet fruit. The nose explodes from the glass, offering jammy fruit, smoke, and buttery caramel scents. The wine's viscosity is reminiscent of 10-W-40 motor oil. It is so sweet, thick, and rich one suspects a spoon could stand upright. The wine is loaded with dream-like quantities of fruit, as well as high alcohol, but there is no noticeable tannin. While drinkable now, given its amazing fruit extract, and high levels of glycerin and alcohol, it is capable of lasting two more decades.“

„Eine Vandermeulen-Füllung. Flasche mit Top-Shoulder. Gekauft im Ebay vor Jahren für 700 Euro (Glück gehabt!) und von Bärti Stocker an diesem Abend gesponsort. Intaktes, leuchtendes Granat mit ziegelrotem Rand. Beginn mit nussigen Pralinen, Himbeergelée und somit eine berauchend süsses und doch delikate Süsse Bouquet zeigend, Rosenpfeffer, rubine Rosenblätter, Zitronemelisse, Thymian und Katzenminze, dezent floraler Schimmer. Bereit in der Nase ein 100%iger Pétrus 1947! Im Gaumen ein Traumtanz von roten, erstaunlich frisch wirkenden Beeren, über dem Extrakt tanzt eine feine Rasse, dezent pikant mit konzentriertem Extrakt, katapultartiges Finale ohne überschwänglich zu werden. Mehr als nur gut erhalten. Das ist – in dieser perfekten Flaschenform – ein fragloser Jahrhundertwein. Und auch eine fraglos echte Vandermeulen-Füllung. Wer eine eventuell echte Château-Füllung kaufen will, muss mehr als 10’000 Franken hin blättern. Diese Vandermeulen: 20/20! Zwei Tage später wieder eine Vandermeulen in der Bussumschen Wijnkoopey. Wieder frisch und minzig mit robeerigem druckvollem Körper.“
