Ratings:
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate #84 (December 1992): 94/100
“This is one of those rare examples of a 1983 that is formidably powerful as well as young and backward. I do not know how Leflaive achieved such a monstrous-sized wine that has remained so fresh and unevolved for nearly a decade. […] A huge wine by Leflaive's standards, and more massive and alcoholic than the domaine would prefer, it has turned out to be one of the great 1983s.”
Burghound (November 2007): 94/100
“Wonderfully ripe and honeyed aromas that are extraordinarily complex merge seamlessly into similarly ripe and complex yet perfectly balanced full-bodied flavors that display simply stunning length. The flavors are incredibly impressive for their viscosity and density yet there is nary a hint of heaviness or lack of perfect balance. In short, this is a stunner of a wine that is at the top of its game but the density and balance will permit it to hold for years. Another bottle was displaying more honey and less vibrancy though I suspect that there may have been a storage issue.”
