Joe Lincoln's Decoys are valued as some of the most important to originate from the northeast coast. Lincoln is considered one of America's masters and has been extensively documented in books and articles as such. Although he carved a number of waterfowl species, he only made "Canadian geese" as monumental decoys using unique construction techniques. And, those wer produced in very limited quantities. Few exist today. This large, oversized loomer Slat Goose was one of a set of just three that were originally connected on a floating tripod. It is a rare folk art masterpiece with museum quality presence. It has impressive and extensive documentation. Provenance: This exact decoy is pictured in Time Life's Encyclopedia of Collectibles, 1978; Images Of Folk Art, Cleveland Museum of Art, 1978; National Directory of Decoy Collectors, 1978; was exhibited at the Art Academy of Cincinnati in 1979 and the Ward Museum of Waterfowl Art, 1992; pictured in Ohio Antique Review, 1979; Decoys A North American Survey, 1982; and Collector's Guide to Decoys, 1992.
