Antique Gardner Russian porcelain planter bowl having hand painted landscape scenes with chateau, cottage and people. Impressed marks to bottom, 19th century. Gardner Porcelain Works was founded in Verbiki, outside Moscow, by the English-born Francis Gardner in 1766. Empress Catherine II commissioned Gardner Porcelain Works to make the four famous Order Services in the 1770s and 1780s. The Gardner family retained ownership of the factory until 1891 and produced porcelain tablewares, figurines, and faience. Measures approx. 4 1/4" height x 8" diameter (10.8cm x 20.3cm). Total weight approx. 850 grams.
